OPENBook 6.0 helps blind and visually impaired
people read, edit and manage books, magazines, newspapers, mail, money and all
kinds of printed documents.
Basically, OPENBook uses your computer to scan
these printed materials so they can be converted into electronic information.
Once that happens, a voice synthesizer reads the words aloud as they are
displayed on your screen.
If you're reading, there's Page Layout
Description and Page Layout Navigation. The Low-Vision Menu allows the user to
change colors, text size, fonts and spacing.
For times when you editing or writing, you can
use the dictionary, thesaurus, spell check, page insertion,
deletion/replacement and book marking.
If you're having trouble with money, the
BuckScan Currency Recognition system will identify U.S. and Canadian money for
you.
