The Braille Star 40 is an ergonomically optimized
Braille Display with 40 piezoelectric Braille Cells. It is designed to be
used with a laptop.
With its integrated Note Taker function, the
Braille Star 40 becomes a star. In combination with a keyboard, the Braille
Star can be used as a stand-alone notetaker. It is extremely compact and
low and is equipped with both a serial and a USB interface.
Each Braille Cell of the Braille Star 40 is
equipped with a Cursor Routing Key that allows you to position the cursor
at the reading position without lifting a finger from the Braille Display.
The Braille Star can be used with most
laptops. The surface for placing the laptop can be varied individually by
simply pulling it out.
The Braille Star is delivered with a carrying
bag that can alternatively be used as a backpack or a shoulder bag.
The Braille Star is equipped with a USB as
well as a serial port, which makes it very flexible to connect.
The Braille Star can be used with a variety
of screen-reading products for different operating systems like Windows
95/98/2000/ME/XP, Linux and DOS.
The Braille Star is light in weight and
compact and can be carried anywhere. With its 20-hour battery capacity, it
can be perfectly used mobile during studies and on the job.
With just one keyboard, you can take notes
and control the PC. The keyboard directly connected to the Braille Star can
be switched between taking notes and controlling the PC. The mounting
surface for the laptop on the Braille Star can be adjusted easily by
pulling out the sliding mechanism.
The triple action keys are a new concept to
use many functions with one key. The triple action keys allow you to
activate three functions by pressing the upper or lower part or the middle
of the key. The triple action keys are ergonomically located for the
reading hand.
The Braille Star is completely ergonomically
designed. The tactile surface of the Braille elements are concavely shaped
for the perfect feel. As a result, reading in a relaxed position is a real
pleasure for the hand. The function keys fit the natural position of the
fingers and are ideal for ergonomical input.
The concave triple action keys are located
directly beside the Braille cells of the Braille Star. There is no gap
between the Braille elements and the edge of the keyboard on top. No
disturbing keys are located in between. That means that there is only
minimum distance between Braille display and keyboard.
